We’re looking for an experienced engineer to direct a technical team in building, maintaining, and protecting tailored virtual infrastructure supporting global missions focused on seeking out and eliminating cyberspace threats to defend the U.S and its allies.
As the Lead Engineer on our project, you’ll ensure the current infrastructure is functional and available, and constantly look for ways to optimize the infrastructure using the latest technology and the best implementation strategies. You’ll provide your customers insight into their network through monitoring and performance management, and through your subject matter expertise help mitigate and respond to threats quickly, restoring operations and limiting the impact. Your technical expertise will be vital as you identify problem areas and opportunities for improved cybersecurity in a mission critical network. You’ll coach your team to better understand the network by turning metrics into information and explaining their meaning. This is an opportunity to broaden your skillset with a wide variety of tools and techniques in the cybersecurity field. We focus on growing as a team, so you’ll share your expertise through leadership and mentoring as you help the teamwork through challenges and develop new methodologies. As a technical leader, you’ll interface directly with client leadership as you identify new opportunities to modernize the network to help your customers meet their needs. You Have:
- Experience in a system engineering, system administration, or cybersecurity lead role
- Experience with Linux system administration and Virtual Machine Management
- Experience with Splunk Fundamentals, basic incident response procedures, and analysis
- Experience with leading technical teams
- Knowledge of the basic functions and configurations of Bro Zeek
- Ability to perform Nessus scans and review results, firewall configurations, and Linux hosts for indicators of compromise and hardening for Linux systems
- TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph
- HS diploma or GED and 10+ years of experience with Linux or Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of experience with Linux
Nice If You Have:
- Experience with writing scripts to tie together services, functionalities, and tools using technologies, including Python, Bash, and Ansible
- Experience with Confluence, Jira ticketing, and NiagaraFiles (NiFi) deployments, provisioning virtual infrastructure, and allocating virtual infrastructure hosting software, including MISP, HIVE, CORTEX, WikiJS, VPN, and SecurityOnion
- Experience with container provisioning tools, including Docker
- Experience with creating and debugging Splunk Dashboards and creating Snort rules
- Experience with threat hunting or DoD cyber defensive
- Experience with cloud architecture
- Ability to use Splunk to hunt for indicators of compromise, create Splunk Dashboards, and review Suricata logs
- Possession of excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Bachelor's degree in CS, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or Engineering
- IAM Level II Certification, including CISSP, CISM, or CASP+ CE

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $106,200.00 to $242,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.Work Model
