Climate Energy Systems Engineer

The Opportunity:
What if you could use your engineering skills to help build the roadmap to higher energy and climate resilience for the Department of Defense (DoD)? As an energy engineer focusing on infrastructure resilience and climate action, you understand the complexity that comes with implementing innovative technology that meets advanced climate goals while still achieving the high level of energy resilience that is required at military installations. That knowledge is key in the development of solutions that shift the DoD off the reliance on fossil fuels and toward carbon pollution-free electricity. The transition from fossil fuel light duty vehicles to zero emission vehicles is one of the first key steps to meeting Defense goals. We’re looking for an engineer who can work collaboratively to implement new, innovative technology that meets resilience and climate goals, and prepare for future targets.

Our team supports the DoD in its efforts to provide mission assurance through energy assurance. You’ll be working with military installations to develop and implement project concepts relating to all aspects of energy systems, including electrical, mechanical, water, fuel, and communications, to assure that critical systems meet their respective requirements. You’ll also directly impact the climate-energy sector by influencing electric vehicle charging infrastructure implementation and exploring the possibility of utilizing renewable energy over traditional generation types. This is a chance to use your problem-solving skills while gaining experience in Defense and installation energy. Join us and take on exciting challenges in the DoD as we transform the definition of resilience.

Join us. The world can’t wait.

You Have:

  • 7+ years of experience with energy system design and engineering practices
  • Experience with energy, including electricity, heating, cooling, and water infrastructures
  • Experience with design, evaluation, specification, and implementation of carbon-free energy projects, including solar photovoltaic, wind, geothermal, hydro, or nuclear
  • Experience with microgrid applications and design, including blackstart, islanding, droop, and synchronization
  • Ability to make recommendations and advise on energy system development, improvements, optimization, or support efforts
  • Ability to provide engineering, technical, and managerial direction for problem definition, requirements development, and analysis and implementation for innovative and complex energy systems
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics
  • Energy PE Certification

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience designing, building, installing, or maintaining electrical equipment
  • Experience with the design of renewable energy projects utilizing innovative technologies, including solar power, wind, geothermal, hydro, or biomass
  • Experience working with electric vehicles or electric vehicle charging infrastructure
  • Experience working with the Federal government and DoD
  • Knowledge of NFPA 70, IEEE, UFC, and UFGS standards

Clearance:
Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
