Climate Resilience Analyst, Junior

Key Role: 

Interpret and draw succinct conclusions for data collection and analysis to develop reports, briefings, presentations, fact sheets, and other outreach tools to communicate with various audiences on climate resilience-related topics. Leverage programming languages such as Python or R, and visualization software such as Tableau, Plotly, ArcGIS, PowerBi, Qlik, or Adobe Creative Cloud, to collect, compile, analyze, and visualize complex data sets to evaluate and track climate resilience project implementation. Leverage GIS data, the DoD’s Climate Assessment Tool, and other climate risk and land use planning tools to support a robust pipeline of climate resilience projects near military bases. Identify opportunities to connect client missions to open-source, authoritative climate data and develop innovative technical solutions to support the implementation of environmental policy initiatives. 

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Experience with applying Python or R programming languages such as leveraging Pandas, NumPy GeoPandas, Tidyverse, ggplot2, or sf, to create, compile, or wrangle complex datasets

  • Experience with leveraging visualization software such as Tableau, Plotly, ArcGIS, Power BI, Qlik, or Adobe Creative Cloud to convey analytical findings

  • Experience with climate, environmental, energy, and sustainability policy

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software

  • Ability to work on multiple assignments simultaneously

  • Ability to learn and adapt to new subject areas quickly

  • Ability to function independently and as part of a team

  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance

  • Bachelor’s degree

Additional Qualifications: 

  • 2+ years of experience with working in the DoD

  • Experience with Cloud environments, Git version control, Jira, or AWS services, including AWS Lambda, Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3), Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS), AWS CodeCommit, Amazon EventBridge, and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2)

  • Experience with handling and conversion of multiple spatial and non-spatial data sources or machine learning, data mining, statistics, or graph algorithms

  • Experience with supporting joint land use studies (JLUS), compatible use plans, installation complex encroachment management action plans (ICEMAPs), air installation compatible use zone (AICUZ) plans, military installation resilience (MIR) plans, or similar military-community land use planning efforts

  • Experience with the planning, design, or implementation of conservation activities

  • Experience with preparing grant proposals requesting funding from federal, state, or philanthropic programs

  • Knowledge of the DoD’s Readiness and Environmental Protection Integration (REPI) Program, Army Compatible Use Buffer (ACUB) Program, Air Force Mission Sustainment or Community Partnership Programs, or similar Military Service encroachment management programs

  • Knowledge of Endangered Species Act regulatory requirements for terrestrial wildlife, including Habitat Conservation Plans, Critical Habitats, or Military Integrated Natural Resource Management Plans

  • Knowledge of the DoD’s Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution (PPBE) process

  • Knowledge of graphics software, including PowerPoint, to create and manipulate sophisticated presentation graphics

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $51,600.00 to $106,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
