Data Scientist, Mid

The Challenge:

We have an opportunity for you to use your analytical skills to improve one of the armed service's analysis of its programs and budgets. You’ll work closely with your customer to understand their questions and needs, and then dig into their data-rich environment to find the pieces of their information puzzle. You’ll process large data sets and develop automated processes, implement analytical approaches in R, R-Studio, VBA, or Python, develop scripts to manipulate and extract information from structured sets of fiscal data, automate development of reports and visualizations that summarize data sets, produce data visualizations that provide insight into data set structure and meaning and partner with software engineers and cloud developers to develop production analytics to help senior military leaders make informed decisions. You’ll provide your customer with a deep understanding of their data, what it all means, and how they can use it.

You Have:

  • 2+ years of experience with processing large data sets and developing automated processes to merge and standardize, document, and merge data from multiple repositories
  • Experience with implementing analytical approaches that require knowledge of programming languages, including R, R-Studio, VBA, or Python
  • Experience with developing scripts to manipulate and extract information from structured sets of fiscal data
  • Experience with automating development of reports and visualizations that summarize data sets
  • Experience with employing process improvements and reengineering methodologies to support modernization of IT systems
  • Experience with producing data visualizations that provide insight into data set structure and meaning
  • Secret clearance
  • BA or BS degree

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience in partnering with software engineers and cloud developers to develop production analytics
  • MA or MS degree
