The Opportunity:
As public safety communications technologies continue to evolve, public safety agencies are looking for advice and technical expertise to help them navigate the complexities of the current wireless communications environment. As such, our clients need a Land Mobile Radio (LMR) Engineer who is well versed and experienced in the many facets and systems technologies used in modern public safety communications systems.
That’s why we need you, a motivated LMR Engineer and subject matter expert (SME) who understands the complexities of modern public safety communications and can apply solid subject matter expertise and technical writing and analytical skills to drive emergency communications initiatives. As an LMR Engineer and SME, you will present and communicate highly technical concepts to non-technical audiences, support the development and writing of technical documents within the wireless communications environment, and participate in working groups, standards development, and other high-visibility initiatives. Through interaction with clients and engagement with public safety stakeholders from all levels of government and subject matter experts, you will help identify best practices and areas to strengthen and enhance the nation’s emergency communications capabilities.

You Have:
10+ years of experience with emergency communications or public safety communications systems design, procurement, implementations, or management
Experience working on high-visibility or mission critical aspects of a given program, while preforming all functional duties independently
Ability to perform technical writing in a wireless communications environment
Ability to communicate effectively with agency leaders, elected officials, and diverse public safety stakeholders and officials
Ability to oversee the efforts of less senior staff or be responsible for the efforts of all staff assigned to a specific job
Public Trust
Master's degree
Nice If You Have:
Experience working with integrated project teams, working groups, or stakeholder working groups
Experience with IP networking and other systems that support P25 Land Mobile Radio
Experience with technical standards development
Experience presenting and communicating technical concepts to non-technical audiences
Knowledge of cryptography and P25 encryption key management
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering a plus

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $73,100.00 to $166,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.Work Model
