Materials Engineering Consultant

Key Role:

Support the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) with creating, managing, and transitioning cutting-edge research and technology developments utilizing deep expertise in materials development and technology as a technical consultant. Work with DARPA research program managers to assess the technical feasibility of emerging research and identify areas where strategic investment could have transformative impact to defense technologies. Produce and present findings and recommendations to a team of colleagues and clients, assist with technical program management and program development, and brief materials out for government Research and Development (R&D) efforts. Work with world-class scientists in driving forward groundbreaking research efforts that aim to develop novel materials for atmospheric water extraction, fuel catalysis, CO2 reduction, and more.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience with porous materials for adsorption, separation
  • 2+ year of experience in solid materials for gas adsorption-
  • 2+ years of experience with authoring technical papers, reports, or program plans for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to commute to Arlington, VA
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance
  • Master's degree

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with developing materials for engineering applications, with specific applications in the field of Chemical Engineering
  • Experience in engineering and complex system design, prototype design, solid oxide fuel cell catalyst development, fuel cell material development, or catalysis to produce fuels
  • Experience in carbon capture methods leveraging catalysis and CO2 reduction for carbon capture
  • Experience with defense research and development
  • Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Possession of excellent organization and client service skills
  • Master's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, materials engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, or similar science/engineering fields

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $58,400.00 to $133,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
