Metamaterial Device Consultant

Key Role:

Support DARPA with creating, managing, and transitioning cutting-edge research and technology developments using deep expertise in metasurface-based optical systems design and technology as a technical consultant. Work with DARPA research program managers to assess the technical feasibility of emerging research and identify areas where strategic investment could have transformative impact to defense technologies. Produce and present findings and recommendations to a team of colleagues and clients, assist with technical program management and program development, and brief materials out for government Research and Development (R&D) efforts. Work with world-class scientists in driving forward groundbreaking research efforts that aim to develop novel metasurface-based optical and photonic systems for applications such as night vision systems, optical computing, and solid-state devices. Maintain and leverage technical expertise and relationships in serving clients.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience with metasurface design, fabrication, and characterization

  • 2+ years of experience with authoring technical papers, reports, or program plans for technical and non-technical audiences

  • Ability to commute to Arlington, VA

  • Ability to obtain a security clearance

  • Doctorate degree

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with metasurface-based optical systems, including MTF characterization and systems analysis

  • Experience with advanced nanofabrication techniques

  • Experience in metasurfaces integrated with photonic and solid-state devices

  • Experience with defense research and development

  • Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Possession of excellent organization and client service skills

  • Secret clearance

  • Doctorate degree in Physics, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $93,300.00 to $212,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
