Job Description

Remote Work:
Job Number:
Public Safety Communications Cybersecurity Researcher

The Opportunity:

To ensure operable, interoperable, and continuity of emergency communications, our clients need help in enhancing the ability of responders to manage routine incidents and support responses to natural disasters, acts of terrorism, and other incidents. As new technologies emerge, our nation’s emergency communications networks are becoming more susceptible to cyber threats. We are looking for an individual that has experience as a first responder or working with first responder communications to serve as part of Booz Allen's team supporting a client's federal, state, local, and tribal emergency communications coordination mission.

On the team, you’ll apply experience working with first responders and public safety communications systems and equipment, along with consulting expertise and cybersecurity knowledge to help lead discussions with clients and stakeholders, define project requirements, facilitate data collection and analyses, help develop client solutions, support studies and meetings, provide technical support to pilot projects as needed, and document and compile notes. You’ll apply your verbal and written communications expertise to develop project deliverables, including written reports and briefing slides, and support technical assessments of public safety communications technologies in the emergency communications ecosystem with a focus on cybersecurity. You’ll draft reports on critical aspects of emergency communications technology such as operability, interoperability, resiliency, cybersecurity, or maturity.

Join us. The world can’t wait.

You Have:

  • 5+ years of experience working in a professional environment
  • Experience with public safety and first responders such as fire, law enforcement, emergency medical services, 911 centers, and communications network architectures, including applications, devices, and systems such as CAD, RMS, or LMR
  • Knowledge of existing and emerging cyber tools and techniques such as ICAM, PKI, and encryption as they pertain to emergency communications
  • Knowledge of communications and cybersecurity trends and emerging technologies such as 6G and AI or ML’s impact on cyber defense
  • Knowledge of federal, state, or the local emergency communications policy landscape and rulemakings
  • Knowledge of data exchange elements such as data exchange hubs, message brokers, and information sharing environments (ISEs)
  • Knowledge of the federal research and development lifecycle
  • DHS Suitability
  • Bachelor's degree

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience working with public safety, law enforcement, emergency communications, or emergency management
  • Experience in the design, development, and implementation of cybersecurity architecture for large-scale networks or security operation centers
  • Knowledge of the communications systems planning, budgeting, and acquisition processes at the state, local, or federal level
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity market conditions and leading vendors

Applicants selected will be subject to a government investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements of the U.S. government client; DHS suitability is required.
