Scientific Computing Engineer

Key Role:

Perform highly complex analysis, design, development, testing, and debugging of distributed and hardware-accelerated computational pipelines to support big data analytics, specifically biomedical research. Develop and apply advanced methods, theories, and research techniques in the investigation and solution of complex and advanced software applications and problems. Plan and conduct major technical phases of significant projects by coordinating the efforts of technical support staff and the performance of assigned projects. Review completion and implementation of technical products and evaluate vendor capabilities. Work with little supervision and assist in training less experienced engineers and data scientists.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience within data engineering, data research, machine learning engineering, or data science

  • Experience with machine learning algorithms, statistics, or large-scale data analytical methods

  • Experience with designing, developing, and supporting solutions for managing scientific data and tools

  • Experience with high-performance computing

  • Knowledge of common scientific data analysis programming languages, including Python, R, or Perl

  • Ability to obtain a security clearance

  • Bachelor's degree

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with Cloud computing infrastructure and tools, including AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure

  • Experience with HPC job schedulers, including SLURM, Grid Engine, or Moab and TORQUE

  • Experience with container technologies, including Docker

  • Experience with using Agile practices

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $73,100.00 to $166,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
