Kafka Data Engineer

The Challenge:

Ever-expanding technology and collection methodologies means that there is more structured and unstructured data available today than ever before. As a data engineer, you know that organizing big data can yield pivotal insights when it is gathered from disparate sources. We need a Data Engineer who is experienced in upgrading and maintaining Kafka clusters in Kubernetes in AWS, as well as utilizing Kafka Schema Registry and Kafka Security Manager (KSM) to manage schema evolution and security. 

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in designing, developing, and deploying Kafka clusters in a cloud environment, and will be familiar with Kafka Schema Registry and Kafka Security Manager. Here, you will guide and mentor data engineers, developers, and data consumers in a fast-paced, agile environment and will oversee the assessment, design, building, and maintenance of scalable platforms for your clients.

You Have:

  • 5+ years of experience in designing, developing, and deploying Kafka clusters in a cloud environment

  • Knowledge of Kafka architecture and internals

  • Knowledge with Kafka Schema Registry and Kafka Security Manager 

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Top Secret clearance 

  • Bachelor’s degree 

Nice If You Have:

  • 7+ years of experience using Python, SQL, Scala, or Java 

  • Experience with Kafka Connect, Kafka Streams, and other Kafka ecosystem tools

  • Experience with Big Data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, and Cassandra

  • Experience with Terraform, Ansible, or other infrastructure-as-code tool

  • Experience with agile development methodologies

  • Possession of excellent problem-solving and analytical skill

  • Possession of strong attention to detail

  • TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $81,800.00 to $186,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
