Cybersecurity Engineer

The Opportunity:

We have an opportunity for you to use your leadership, strategy, and analytical skills to improve Booz Allen’s delivery to our clients. You will ensure project completion and provide guidance and direction to lower-level technicians, specialists, and managers. You’ll provide expertise in the engineering design, development, direction, and implementation of enterprise network cyber defense capabilities. You will apply familiarity with the utilization, configuration, and implementation of cyber defense capabilities, including web content filters, email security capabilities, Intrusion Detection Systems, Intrusion Prevention Systems, Host-Based Security Systems, Security Incident and Event Management tools, Domain Name System security practices, advanced log analysis, network monitoring, network flow analysis, packet capture analysis, network proxies, firewalls, anti-virus capabilities, Linux and UNIX command line, and access control lists.

You’ll be responsible for system administration for corporate and afloat or tactical DE IT systems, to include deployment of Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) scanning, providing technical recommendations, and applying technical solutions for management of system level vulnerabilities. You will provide support to the Information System Security Officer (ISSO) to assist in developing enterprise environments to meet network compliance and organizational needs.

You Have: 

  • 5+ years of experience with Linux administration
  • Experience with Linux, including installing, configuring, or maintaining servers, operating systems, and applications
  • Experience in a consulting or client-facing environment
  • Ability to assess, harden, and mitigate cyber vulnerabilities through various tools such as ACAS or Nessus vulnerability scanner, STIGs, and Security Requirement Guides (SRGs) for COTS operating systems, applications, and network infrastructure devices
  • Ability to plan and conduct a project with minimal oversight
  • Ability to lead or participate in tiger teams to resolve complex IT challenges
  • Secret clearance
  • HS diploma or GED
  • DoD 8570.01-M Information Assurance Technician (IAT) Level II Certification, including Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, GSEC, SSCP, CySA+, GICSP, or CND Certification

Nice If You Have:   

  • Experience in Linux security, including with SELinux policies, firewalls, and SSH hardening
  • Experience with scripting in PowerShell and BASH command line interfaces, or scripting languages such as Python or Perl
  • Knowledge of High-Performance Computing architecture and optimization
  • Knowledge of enterprise environments
  • Ability to provide system administration to Linux environments, including Red Hat, Ubuntu, and Micro-Linux
  • Ability to provide administration through various tools such as Red Hat Satellite, Active Directory, and PDQ
  • Possession of strong problem-solving skills, including in complex Windows environments
  • DoD 8570.01-M Information Assurance Technician (IAT) Level III Certification

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $75,600.00 to $172,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees. This posting will close within 90 days from the Posting Date.
