Ground System Chief Architect

As the ground system chief architect on our team, you will work with Booz Allen colleagues and the military to develop design, and manage all aspects of the solution lifecycle, but particularly focus on early stages of transforming needs and opportunities into architectural concepts and solutions. You will create the link between problems and solutions and develop the system requirements to ensure successful solution results. You will deliver critical information to our warfighters to quickly win or even prevent future wars. Your client will trust you to lead the development of Technical Requirements Documents (TRDs), Interface Control Documents (ICDs), technical assessments, integration plans, verification plans, and digital mission and system models for satellite ground systems. You will grow your skills by researching new requirements, technologies, and threats and using innovative engineering methodologies and tools to create tomorrow’s solutions.

You Have: 

  • 10+ years of experience with large-scale ground systems engineering, integration, or development on national security space programs 

  • 4+ years of experience performing systems engineering analysis and developing systems engineering products for satellite systems 

  • Experience with the development of technical specifications, ICDs, ground architectures and designs, integration plans and schedules, or test plans 

  • Experience working with satellite communications technology system architecture, interfaces, protocols, control, planning, equipment, concept of operation, troubleshooting, policies, or procedures, including OPIR capabilities

  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies 

  • Ability to define, develop, and maintain large scale system specifications, capability requirements, and acquisition documentation 

  • Ability to communicate and establish collaborative relationships with government clients, Federally Funded Research and Developmental Centers (FFRDC), and associate contractor teammates to achieve program goals 

  • Ability to articulate risks and opportunities presented by various space architectures to ground systems 

  • Secret clearance 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) field 

Nice If You Have: 

  • Experience performing systems engineering, integration, and testing on space-based remote sensing systems, including SBIRS, Next Generation OPIR, and FORGE

  • Experience planning and executing program reviews throughout the life cycle of the system 

  • Experience using a Model-Based Systems Engineering approach to manage system definitions and technical baselines 

  • Knowledge of satellite ground system design, cloud architectures, DevOps and DevSecOps, software frameworks, communication and networking, data processing, exploitation and dissemination, space system operations and tasking, mission planning, space-ground integration, or space system factory support 

  • Knowledge of DoD 5000.01 and 5000.02 

  • TS/SCI clearance 

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, CS, or Physics a plus 

  • INCOSE Systems Engineering Professional Certification, including ASEP, CSEP, or ESEP Certifications

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $81,800.00 to $186,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees. This posting will close within 90 days from the Posting Date.
