Software Systems Subject Matter Expert, Senior

The Opportunity:

Do you want to build and help procure and deliver the most advanced ground user equipment for providing personnel with position and timing for navigation during ground operations? Do you want to provide a tangible contribution and application of space-based capabilities within ground operations? You know a good system is more than just a nice-looking interface and data, and you need the right combination of programming expertise to build a user focused solution. As a software expert, you’ll provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) support for PNT procurement efforts in a fast-paced, agile environment. We’re looking for someone like you to build and enhance next generation systems from a production-ready system.

You’ll work with a government team in the procurement of complicated systems for deployment within DoD missions. Focus will be on overseeing the software development for these systems as a government support including reviewing development techniques and processes by vendor teams in the implementation of complicated software. This includes review of all stages of software development from requirement development, software development, software acceptance criteria determination, and verification and validation efforts. In addition, this effort will oversee vendor agile team deployment for system component development as necessary, development of system security, techniques, countermeasures, and low-level or embedded software development and engineering with application to national security interests.

You Have:  

  • Experience working with requirements from levels such as CDD/TRD and following the flow to Software Requirements Specifications and verification and validation procedures
  • Experience with embedded systems, and software development languages
  • Ability to work with modern DevOps, DevSecOps, or software development toolsets and mechanisms, including tools such as Jenkins, Ant, or Git, and processes for development, unit testing, regression testing, and requirements buyoff on a major development program
  • Secret clearance
  • Bachelor's degree

Nice If You Have:  

  • Experience with GPS or M-GNSS systems and PNT
  • Experience with GPS or spread spectrum communication protocols and the basic PNT mission base
  • Experience working with the GPS Directorate or the SSC Organizational structure
  • Experience with acquisitions
  • Experience with acquisitions for government procurements
  • Knowledge of modern computer languages, including Python, C/C++, or Java
  • Ability to learn and solve problems quickly and creatively
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently demonstrating initiative to complete complex tasks
  • Master's degree in a STEM field

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $81,800.00 to $186,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
