University - Cyber Intern

The Opportunity:

This role is more than just coding. We need a cybersecurity intern who will use their passion to learn new tools and techniques to discover novel ways to implement the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)’s five functions: Identify, Protect, Detect, Respond, and Recover. You’ll analyze network configuration information along with sample network traffic to explore and develop solutions to protect and defend critical infrastructure from adversarial activities.

You Have:

  • Experience with programming languages, including .NET, C++, JavaScript, Java, or Python, in a professional, academic, or internship work environment
  • Knowledge of routing, switching, and network intrusion techniques
  • Ability to learn new languages and frameworks
  • Ability to work in groups
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance
  • Scheduled to obtain a bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) field by Winter 2024 or Spring 2025

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience with security information and event management (SIEM) or security orchestration, automation, and response (SOAR) tools and services
  • Experience with commercial cybersecurity products from vendors such as Splunk, Palo Alto Networks, Elastic, AWS, and Microsoft
  • Experience with implementing controls from NIST 800-53, FedRAMP, ICD 503, RMF, DoD information Levels, and applying them to the design and implementation of IT solutions to achieve an Authorization to Operate (ATO)
  • Experience with eMASS
  • Ability to produce technical documentation and create design artifacts
  • Ability to set up system level alerting, including CVE detection
  • Ability to speak to accepted encryption types at rest or in transit
  • Knowledge of cloud native security tools, including HBSS and ACAS
  • Possession of excellent critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $49,900.00 to $102,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
