Chemist

Key Role:

Apply an intermediate understanding of Chemistry in support of furthering the client’s Science and Technology (S&T) objectives across the chemical and biological threat spectrum and provide R&D analysis to governmental entities with an emphasis on supporting the development of prophylactic and therapeutic medical countermeasures against known and emerging chemical threats. Advise and assist our DoD client to reduce non-traditional threats around the world. Provide in-depth scientific analyses and technology assessments across the chemical threat spectrum. Contribute to developing Chemical Medical Countermeasures to help the DoD respond to large-scale chemical releases to ensure the health and safety of warfighters. Assist the client with managing a S&T portfolio and apply Subject Matter Expertise in Advanced and Emerging Biological Threats. Assist the client with defining the environmental fate of physiological response and critical characterization of chemical threats and support concept of operations development for decision makers. Advise the client with developing pharmaceutical products to mitigate damage caused by chemical agents and provide expertise and support for the development and assessment of environmental chemical detection platforms.

Basic Qualifications:

•    2+ years of experience with research and development in a professional or academic environment
•    Knowledge of technical proposals and reports, experimental or theoretical techniques, scientific studies, and statements of work to ensure technical validity and evaluate current and emerging chemical and biological defense technologies
•    Knowledge of scientific principles
•    Ability to evaluate project aspects, including design, development, execution, and implementation of Chemical Medical Countermeasures programs
•    Secret clearance
•    Bachelor’s degree

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with preparing senior-level briefings and reports   

  • Experience with providing subject management expertise to DoD clients 

  • Experience with physical chemistry or a similar field 

  • Experience with the Military

  • Experience with Research Oversight Board (ROB) approval and The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) approval for human cell lines and animal research projects

  • Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • TS/SCI clearance

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related field preferred; Master’s degree in Chemistry or a related field a plus

Clearance:

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Secret clearance is required.

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $49,800.00 to $102,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
