Instrumentation Technician

Key Role:

Perform complex and unique assignments that require the application of basic principles and theories of electronics, electrical circuitry, engineering mathematics, mechanical engineering, electronic and electrical testing, and physics. Design, develop, and construct major units, devices, and equipment. Develop new test procedures and measurement techniques and define standards. Conduct tests and experiments to prove or disapprove the feasibility of preliminary designs. Train and oversee the work of lower-level technicians.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience evaluating, upgrading, and modifying avionic operating instrumentation systems
  • Experience with modifications on 5th gen aircraft
  • Experience with military avionic instrumentation systems
  • Experience updating existing instrumentation systems design packages in accordance with AFI 21-101 and engineering data provided
  • Ability to manage avionic instrumentation equipment systems
  • Ability to coordinate instrumentation requirements, schedules, and work plans
  • Ability to control electronic data collection systems using non-conventional modification hardware
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
  • TS/SCI clearance
  • Associate's degree in Engineering or 5+ years of experience with avionics maintenance in lieu of a degree

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with electronic principles and practices
  • Experience with the interpretation of technical data
  • Experience with electronic test equipment
  • Knowledge of airborne range facilities and the availability and capability of computer facilities
  • Knowledge of data reduction and data analysis to ensure instrumentation compatibility with data reduction capabilities and to monitor validity of data and operational dependability of instrumentation
  • Knowledge of engineering workstation hardware to maintain systems in operating condition with up-to-date software

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $52,200.00 to $119,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
