Mechanical & Computational Fluid Dynamics Engineer

The Opportunity:

What if you could use your engineering expertise to develop next-generation defense tools and technology? As an engineer, you know leading-edge digital engineering tools and analysis are critical to national defense. We need your skills and expertise in fluid dynamics and supersonics to develop creative solutions that directly impact the warfighter.

As a Computational Fluid Dynamics Engineer on our engineering team, you’ll provide computational fluid dynamics (CFD) expertise to perform reliable, high‐fidelity, multi‐disciplinary analyses of all speed regimes, such as subsonic through hypersonic, focusing on multi‐scale unsteady flows, flow interactions and flows with widely varying temporal and spatial scales. You will assist experimental researchers in the design of experiments for the development, verification, and validation of transient, thermal engineering and analysis tools and experiments. You will contribute to the design and research teams investigating and analysis of aerospace systems to further comprehend the effects of different structural technologies in an operational context for subsonic, transonic, supersonic, and hypersonic speed regimes with the objective of developing methodologies for the early assessment of novel concepts and technologies. At Booz Allen, you’ll make a difference with us, and, in return, we’ll invest in your future.

Join us. The world can't wait.

You Have:

  • 6+ years of experience using CFD analysis involving the physics of high‐speed aerodynamics and multi‐scale unsteady flows

  • Experience with LES or hybrid RANS-LES methods and analysis software

  • Experience with meshing approaches adaptive mesh refinement (AMR), including turbulence and heating physics models

  • Experience with academic, commercial, or government solvers and programming languages used for high performance computing

  • Experience with creating and using advanced data visualization methods to show data relationships

  • Secret clearance

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience setting up and using optimization frameworks for aerospace vehicle design, including structural loading, vibrations, and thermal analysis using a multidisciplinary design and analysis approach

  • Experiences with coupled structural, thermal, or acoustic and fluid interactions, including quantification of heat transfer

  • Experience using aerodynamic analysis using Star CCM+, Ansys, AVL, XFOIL, Cart3D, FUND3D, FDL3DI, or similar

  • Experience using computer-aided design using SolidWorks or similar

  • Experience in object-oriented programming using MATLAB, Python, C, C++ computer programming, or similar

  • Experience with DoD High Performance Computing Modernization Program (HPMCP) CREATE-AV tools

  • Experience using MADO methods and techniques using OpenMDAO, ModelCenter, or similar

  • Experience using finite element and thermal analysis using ANSYS, Altair, MSC Nastran, Abaqus FEA, or similar

  • Experience with uncertainty quantification methods

  • Master’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics preferred; Doctorate degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics a plus

Clearance:

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Secret clearance is required.
