Safety Specialist

The Opportunity:

Your ability to translate real-world needs into technical specifications, makes you an integral part of delivering a customer focused engineering solution.

As a safety specialist on the Ordnance Assurance and Safety team, you will manage safety and occupational health programs. You will perform workplace inspections of shops, warehouses, ranges, offices, industrial plants, and laboratories for safety hazards and risks. You'll collect health and safety data to protect personnel. You will analyze work procedures, processes, and equipment to protect personnel and for regulatory compliance. You'll provide safety and occupational health training. You will support external Safety and Occupational Heath (SOH) program audits by a higher organization to ensure compliance with all applicable standards. You'll ensure certification and calibration of safety equipment is maintained. You will support accident and mishap investigations and perform record keeping in accordance with Federal and Navy policy. You'll review and draft policies and standard operating procedures. You will document formal inspections for and perform follow-up inspections for hazard abatement to close deficiencies per OSHA standard 29 CFR 1960. You Have:

  • 5+ years of experience in occupational safety and health
  • 3+ years of experience in explosive safety
  • Experience in training and regulatory interpretation and implementation
  • Secret clearance
  • Bachelors degree in Safety, Occupational Health, or Industrial Hygiene
  • Certified Safety Professional, Associate Safety Professional, or Safety and Health Fundamentals Certificate Program for General Industry Certifications

Nice If You Have:

  • Safety & Health Fundamentals Certification from the OSHA Training Institute
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist Certification

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $52,100.00 to $119,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
