Hardware Design Engineer

The Challenge:

What if you could use your engineering skills to transform how our Navy sailors communicate and process mission essential information? As an electrical engineer, you understand the power behind complex systems. That knowledge is key when it comes to building critical systems that perform reliably and safely, process extensive amounts of data in a short time period, and integrate seamlessly with legacy systems.  We’re looking for an electrical engineer who can use their skills to develop state of the art communications and signal processing systems in support of our nation's warfighter.

Our team provides direct support for the design, development, testing, and integration of mission critical systems and subsystems installed on-board US Navy Surface, Shore, and Air based platforms, including both manned and unmanned. We build next generation image and video processing systems, integrate newly developed communications technologies into legacy systems to improve operational efficiency as new operational requirements emerge, ensure system development and integration occurs in accordance with applicable flight clearance requirements, integrate the latest technologies in the areas of artificial intelligence and machine learning, and ensure solutions developed meet necessary Cyber requirements for secure communications. That’s why we need you, an experienced electrical engineer, who specializes in the rapid design, development, installation and testing of microelectronics-based processing systems, including Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and FPGAs; who has a solid background in signal, image, and video processing, and understands how to integrate the latest technologies into legacy communications systems, to help us design and develop secure, mission-essential communications and signal processing solutions. You’ll support the development of Bills of Materials for low rate production and assist with or oversee the development of assembly drawings for end-item production. You'll serve as a subject matter expert in communications protocols implemented on military hardware and military communications systems, including legacy serial communications protocols. You'll perform testing of prototypes and fully document performance analysis in written internal reports and well as deliverables to end customers. You will perform research, testing, and verification of hardware components being explored as substitute components for end-of-life parts, as required. You’ll directly impact the ability of our nation's warfighters to communicate effectively, conduct their missions, and return home safely by ensuring they have the latest technology required to meet operational requirements. We’ll look to you to share your electrical engineering expertise through leadership and mentoring junior staff. You Have:

-10+ years of experience with combined software development in C, C++, or Java

-10+ years of experience with engineering hardware design

-10+ years experience with designing, developing, installing, and testing new hardware and software components or solutions to be installed in operational environments

-5+ years of experience with developing hardware and software solutions using micro-controllers and minicomputers, including Arduino, Raspberry Pi, or FPGA

-Knowledge of industry standard quality processes, including ISO-9000 or AS-9100

-Secret clearance

-BS degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering

Nice If You Have:

-Knowledge of multiple communications protocols, including MIL-STD-1760, AIRINC, RS232/422/485, IP, CAN, SPI, and TWI

-Top Secret clearance

-MA or MS degree in Electrical, Computer, or Systems Engineering

-IPC J-STD-001 Soldering Certification
