Cybersecurity Engineer, Lead

The Opportunity:

Cyber threats are everywhere, and the constantly evolving nature of these threats can make understanding them seem overwhelming to commercial satellite owners and operators. In all of this “cyber noise,” how can these organizations understand their risks and how to mitigate them? The answer is you. We need your knowledge as an experienced cybersecurity chief engineer to help break down complex threats into manageable plans of action.

As the cybersecurity chief engineer on our team, you’ll assist leaders in space commerce, develop, build, maintain, and test security systems, and monitor their effectiveness. You’ll learn how to guide your client through a plan of action with presentations, whitepapers, and milestones and help to translate security concepts so they can make the best decisions to secure their system and data. This is your opportunity to build experience in a strategic information security role while developing skills in program support, cloud computing, modern software engineering, and others. Due to the nature of work performed within this facility, U.S. citizenship is required.

You Have: 

  • 12+ years of experience configuring and validating secure systems, network and infrastructure, security testing, security products, and systems to detect security weakness
  • 12+ years of experience implementing security controls, developing customized application security assessments for asset risk and policy compliance, and conducting vulnerability assessments
  • 5+ years of experience with continuity of operations, planning, policy development, and disaster recovery
  • Experience with vulnerability scanning solutions, and antivirus and security software
  • Experience with NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF) protocols, and data encryption techniques
  • Experience with hardened containers and VM images
  • Knowledge of FedRAMP and FISMA requirements
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP, common networking ports and protocols, traffic flow, system administration, OSI model, defense-in-depth, and common security elements
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree

Nice If You Have: 

  • Experience analyzing high volumes of logs, network data, and other attack artifacts
  • Knowledge of data-centric systems, cloud computing, open-source software, containerized microservices, and DevSecOps
  • Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in CS, Software Engineering, or related field

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $93,300.00 to $212,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
