Data Governance Lead

The Opportunity:

On our team, you’ll use your leadership skills and data science expertise to create real-world impact. You’ll work closely with clients to understand their questions and needs, and then dig into their data-rich environments to find the pieces of their information puzzle. You’ll guide teammates and lead the development of algorithms and systems. You’ll use the right combination of tools and frameworks to turn sets of disparate data points into objective answers to advise your clients as they make informed decisions. Ultimately, you’ll provide a deep understanding of the data, what it all means, and how it can be used.

You Have:   

  • Experience in working with modern relational databases, including MySQL or PostgreSQL
  • Experience in the data field with a high level of data literacy and the people, processes, technology, and procedures associated with effective data governance strategies and metadata management and analyses
  • Experience implementing an enterprise metadata management program delivering enterprise metadata or content management solutions
  • Experience with Federal data policies, processes, and standards
  • Experience with data architecture, quality, management, security, compliance, or software tools used to develop and implement data governance policy and procedures
  • Experience in working with stakeholders to evaluate existing data dictionaries, business glossaries, and taxonomies to determine the existence of metadata gaps, alignment with controlled vocabularies, and potential contribution to increase usability, reliability, and search and discoverability of data assets
  • Experience in data governance strategy planning and implementation, and providing guidance in setting the relevant workflows, roles, views, audit reports, and other execution and monitoring concepts to support data governance initiatives
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree

Nice If You Have:   

  • Experience in the development of algorithms leveraging R, Python, or SQL/NoSQL 
  • Experience with Big Data systems, including Hadoop, HDFS, and Hive
  • Experience in working with enterprise and production systems
  • Experience with working as an ETL developer and data engineer
  • Experience with Agile software development
  • Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience leading working groups to include the use of strong communication, organization, and delegation tools, setting project strategy and prioritization, project change management, and monitoring progress towards project goals
  • Experience thinking strategically, interpreting business processes, recognizing and addressing issues and structural problems within data, and identifying potential barriers to effective data interpretation and analyses.
  • Bachelor’s degree in CS, Information Systems, or a related field
  • Hortonworks, Cloudera, or Big Data Certification

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $93,300.00 to $212,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees. This posting will close within 90 days from the Posting Date.
