Linux System Engineer, Mid

Key Role:

Collaborate with software engineering and infrastructure engineering staff members to design, develop, build, analyze, evaluate, and deploy Linux-based OS and other open source applications on existing and developing local and Cloud infrastructure. Coordinate design decisions and tailor implementation plans to the needs of other engineering teams, as appropriate. Support software development and test infrastructure in an administrative capacity and create and modify engineering and other technical documents. Advise on and execute performance and stability enhancing configuration and architecture modifications. Perform trade studies to quantify new technologies and methodologies and translate requirements into hardware and software specifications. This position is located in Reston, VA. 

Basic Qualifications:

-Experience with systems administration, including log analysis, troubleshooting, system configuration, or security

-Experience with providing detailed technical analysis and reporting

-TS/SCI clearance required

-HS diploma or GED

-Ability to obtain DoD 8570.01M IAM Level II Certification within 60 days of hire

Additional Qualification:

-Experience with administering, maintaining, and deploying Linux applications and updates or Apache Big Data applications

-Experience with mass deployment technologies

-Experience with deploying and patching RedHat systems using Satellite

-Experience with HDFS, Spark and Solr, Hive, Accumulo, or other similar technologies

-Experience with Puppet, Simp, or Ansible

-Knowledge of the DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF)

-Knowledge of various scripting languages

-DoD 8570.01M IAM Level II Certification
