Advanced Physicist

The Opportunity:
Are you excited at the prospect of unlocking the secrets held by quantum information science? Are you fascinated by the possibilities presented by quantum computing advances? We have an opportunity for you to use your analytical and experimental skills to improve quantum computing, communications, and sensing capabilities for the DoD.

You’ll work closely with your customer to understand their questions and needs and provide direct quantum support in their laboratory environment. You’ll mentor and learn from teammates, run advanced experiments, study and evaluate complex data, and recommend changes and alternative solutions. You Have:

  • Experience with leveraging advanced and specialized physics research expertise to test and analyze physical phenomena, conduct and shape R&D programs, and support S&T client challenges

  • Experience with handling large data sets, including data collection, manipulation, and analysis

  • Experience with evaluating and interpreting experimental data

  • Ability to convey complex concepts to a diverse audience either written or verbally

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a manner that leverages diverse backgrounds and expertise

  • Ability to obtain a security clearance

  • Master’s degree

Nice If You Have:

  • 3+ years of experience in optical engineering or mechanical engineering working in a laboratory environment

  • Experience with leading and managing teams of scientists and engineers

  • Experience in research and development of unmanned aerial systems (UAS)

  • Experience working with and programming field programmable gate arrays (FPGA)

  • Knowledge of low and room temperature qubit measurements, including MKS

  • Knowledge of quantum algorithms, ion trapping, superconducting circuits, or photonics

  • Knowledge of optical readout and coherent control of spin qubits, electrical readout, or integration with CMOS devices

  • Secret clearance

  • Doctorate degree in Physics, Material Science, or Electrical Engineering

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $65,300.00 to $149,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
