Autonomous Ship Cyber Systems Engineer

The Opportunity: 

Are you looking for an opportunity to advance your experience in cybersecurity and systems engineering that will safeguard our nation? As a systems security & network security engineer, you can identify the tools and technologies needed to assess vulnerabilities and recommend the best solution and security strategy. We need your experience to develop and implement security solutions that will protect our Navy systems.

On our team, you’ll troubleshoot and analyze complex challenges for customers using your knowledge of unmanned systems. You’ll use your curiosity for technology and market trends to further research and develop security solutions. Using your experience in control systems, sensors, and autonomous solutions, you’ll help assess security threats and implement infrastructure controls. In this role, you’ll closely impact Navy cybersecurity solutions by merging cybersecurity and systems engineering expertise to shape the development and modernization of autonomous systems. With mentoring, challenging hands-on problem-solving, and opportunities to learn new tools and skills, we focus on growing as a team to make the best solutions for our customers.

You Have: 

  • 3+ years of experience on complex cybersecurity and systems engineering projects, in support of design, development, integration, testing, and operations of systems

  • Experience with the systems engineering process and the systems development lifecycle

  • Experience with technical writing, including developing technical documentation and creating design artifacts

  • Knowledge of the Risk Management Framework (RMF), the Assessment and Authorization (A&A) activities needed to obtain and maintain an Authority to Operate (ATO), and associated cybersecurity policies, including NIST 800-53 Rev 5 and NIST 800-207

  • Knowledge of unmanned or autonomous systems hardware and software, including Control Systems, sensors, payload, and autonomy

  • Ability to interact directly with clients to identify problems, analyze requirements and capabilities, generate solutions, and communicate results to meet schedule, performance, and quality metrics in the systems development lifecycle and acquisition lifecycle

  • Ability to conduct requirement gap analysis reviews of existing requirements compared with desired requirements

  • Secret clearance

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or Robotics

Nice If You Have: 

  • Experience in DoD, Navy, and NAVWAR organizations and interconnected systems and working with DoD clients to model, maintain, or integrate complex systems

  • Experience with Navy afloat networks and Unmanned Maritime Systems (UMS) 

  • Experience with mission-level autonomy and common autonomy structures

  • Knowledge of DoD Acquisition and Systems Engineering processes and frameworks, Security Governance, and Auditing and Assessment policies (DoD)

  • Knowledge of Naval defensive cybersecurity operations and analytics

  • Knowledge of industry companies, sensors, and platforms

  • Ability to manage and prioritize workload with minimal supervision

  • Top Secret clearance

  • Master's degree in in Engineering, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a Robotics-related field

  • Security+ or Network+ Certification

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $58,300.00 to $133,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees. This posting will close within 90 days from the Posting Date.
