Operational Planner, Senior

Key Role:

Serve as a senior operational planner. Lead, conduct, and provide quality control of deliberate, crisis action, and contingency planning, functional plan development and validation, coordination, and integration in conjunction with combatant commanders, higher headquarters, components, DoD, US government inter-agency, and partner nations. Review and provide coordinated input to strategic and operational plans and orders, analysis reports, policy analysis reports, requests for forces, DoD directives and guidance, and other documentation that supports the operational level in research, analysis, and policy analysis development. Provide expertise in operational doctrine, operations, policy, and authority subject matter and integration of lessons learned to support senior leader decision-making. Conduct and consolidate foreign partner nation representative coordination and planning to develop foreign partner nation capabilities and capacities. Lead, conduct, and validate research and analysis and prepare information papers, decision papers, and briefings to inform command leadership.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience as an Operational Planner
  • 5+ years of experience in military to military activities, security cooperation events, and multi and bi-lateral (Title 10) exercises
  • 5+ years of experience with military operation order development, including manning, organization, deployment, mission assurance, employment, support, sustainment, or redeployment
  • Experience in support of crisis response and contingency operations
  • Active Secret clearance
  • BA or BS degree or an additional 5+ years of experience as a Operational Planner in lieu of a degree
  • Completion of JPME Phase I in Military Joint Operation Planning

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience in the EUCOM and AFRICOM AOR
  • Experience in Global Theater Security Cooperation Management Information System (GTSCMIS) software
  • Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills
  • MA or MS degree
