Personnel Security Specialist

Key Role:

Processes and maintains firm and government inspectable records and procedures for employees to obtain and maintain government security clearances or positions of trust. Work independently with some guidance and review or guide activities of junior employees, if needed. Assist and coordinate with a government client to support personnel security activities, including data, personnel, and physical security. Work effectively with technical staff, customer leadership, and other security staff members. Maintain personnel security files and work in security databases to update information on employees and assist with the processing of personnel security clearances under the direction of the client. Provide training brown bags to technical staff and customer leadership to raise their awareness and comprehension of security processes and procedures.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience with Joint Personnel Adjudication System (JPAS) Level 6 or higher
  • Knowledge of standard security policies and procedures, including the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM) and the DoD Information Security Manual (DODM 5200.01 V1-V4)
  • Knowledge of the fundamental aspects of federal government security procedures
  • Secret clearance
  • BA or BS degree and 5 years of experience as a security specialist or 10+ years of experience as a security specialist in lieu of a degree
  • Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Program Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC)

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with Defense Information System for Security (DISS)

  • Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Possession of excellent time management skills
