Network Engineer, Senior

Key Role:

Execute the planning, analysis, engineering, provisioning, and configuration required to transition Navy networks and associated security systems to the Joint Information Environment (JIE) Joint Regional Security Stack (JRSS), which is part of DoD’s Cybersecurity architecture and consists of several devices responsible for providing network security services. Deliver professional services and analyze engineering implementation plans that align to applicable DoD, JIE, and Navy directives and guidelines and client expectations. Support the development and execution of strategies for the planning, engineering, provisioning, and configuration support required to transition Navy Enterprise and excepted networks and associated security systems to the JRSS in alignment with client expectations and mission needs. Conduct architectural and gap analysis, risk mitigation, solution planning, and course of action development to transition Navy networks behind JRSS. Troubleshoot, resolve, and report on network performance and system issues. Work on elevated issues arising from daily activities and apply broad management, functional expertise, and knowledge to mitigate those issues. This position is located in Suffolk, VA.

Basic Qualifications:
-10+ years of experience with networking
-Experience with packet sniffing applications
-Experience with performance tuning networking or security
-Experience with Microsoft products, including Office, Project, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
-Knowledge of the TCP/IP protocol, OSI layers 1-4, and associated equipment
-Knowledge of network concepts and technologies, including QOS, COS, IDS/IPS, VOIP, and flow control
-Knowledge of implementing and troubleshooting static and dynamic routing protocols, including EIGRP, BGP, and OSPF
-Secret clearance
-BA or BS degree in CS or IT
-CCNP, CCIE, or CNE Certifications

Additional Qualifications:
-Experience with Navy networks, including designing, configuring, installing, and troubleshooting routers, hubs, switches, firewalls, LAN, WAN, and Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) or similar technologies within a centralized network infrastructure preferred
-Experience with Department of Navy networks, processes, and operations
-Knowledge of Windows, Cisco, UNIX, Linux, and Novell systems preferred
-Ability to work effectively as part of a larger service migration team
-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills
