Structural Engineer

Key Role: 

Serve as structural design engineer in the public works branch in support of the Marine Corps as part of larger Marine Corps Force Design 2030 initiatives. Responsible for providing expert-level technical advice on the planning and programming requirements for the design and construction of existing facilities repair and alteration projects. Perform technical design, document preparation, review, assessment, and provide guidance including the resolution of complex structural design problems. Perform site investigations, evaluate conditions of existing systems, and provide reports and recommendations on correcting structural deficiencies. Plan and direct execution of structural engineering designs for various types of facilities including structures unique to military use that are of considerable size, complexity, and extent. Prepare statements of structural engineering scope of work and detailed estimates used for the design and construction of major renovation, repair, and maintenance of various facilities. Review design documents produced by other service branch engineering teams or architect-engineer teams and coordinate with architects and engineers in other specialized fields concerning related work in architectural, civil, mechanical, communications, and electrical, as well as environmental and industrial hygiene requirements.  

Basic Qualifications: 

  • 3+ years of experience in the structural engineering field, including seismic design 
  • Knowledge of structural engineering concepts, principles, and practices applicable to the full range of duties concerned with the planning, design, construction, renovation, maintenance, and repair of facilities normally found on military installations
  • Knowledge of structural engineering requirements of diverse, highly complex projects, including headquarters buildings, hazardous and flammable handling facilities, large automotive maintenance shops, aviation maintenance shops, community centers, education centers, and dining facilities
  • Knowledge of structural engineering concepts related to technical design, document preparation, review, and assessment of complex structural design problems
  • Knowledge of other engineering fields, including architectural, civil, mechanical, communications, electrical, and environmental as they relate to structural planning
  • Ability to conduct investigations of project sites to determine the feasibility of proposed projects and prepare statements of structural engineering scope of work and estimates
  • Secret clearance 
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering
  • Ability to pass the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) or Engineer in Training (EIT) exam within three months of start date

Additional Qualifications: 

  • Experience working on military, municipal, federal, state, industrial, or manufacturing design projects
  • Experience in Facilities Planning

Clearance: 

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Secret clearance is required.

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $58,300.00 to $133,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
