Open Source Intelligence Data Scientist

The Opportunity:

Are you excited at the prospect of unlocking the secrets held by a data set? Are you fascinated by the possibilities presented by the open source and publicly available data available because of our increasingly connected world? These massive amounts of structured and unstructured data open new opportunities for those with analytical and technical skills. The problem facing the Intelligence Community (IC) is no longer how to get more data, it’s understanding how to turn this massive amount of data into answers our warfighters can use. That’s where you come in.

As an open-source intelligence and publicly available information (PAI) data scientist, you can leverage your experience to turn these complex data sets into useful information to solve operational defense challenges. You’ll work closely with military leaders and warfighters to understand their questions and requirements, and then dig into the publicly available data-rich environment to find the pieces of their information puzzle. You’ll explore new data sources, create effective queries, and combine information from disparate sources to support the U.S. and operational partners. You'll apply expertise in intelligence, qualitative and quantitative analysis, and collections to help our military clients make informed operational decisions. You'll find and work with available web and social media content, construct new OSINT and PAI tradecraft documents and workflows, and analyze the development of OSINT and PAI tradecraft.

You’ll provide your customer with a deep understanding of open-source data, what it all means, and how they can use it.  Join us as we blend traditional intelligence activities with data science for good.

Join us. The world can't wait.

  • 5+ years of experience with intelligence analysis, including developing collection plans and risk assessments

Nice If You Have:

  • 2+ years of experience creating software for retrieving, parsing, and processing structured and unstructured data

  • Experience automating data engineering tasks and accessing data using APIs and crawlers

  • Experience designing, developing, operationalizing, and maintaining complex data applications at enterprise scale using Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik

  • Experience with all-source intelligence processes, data evaluation, and analytical tools
