Database Architect

The Opportunity:

Are you an interested in a Database Architect role looking to shift the way the world works? Then we are looking for someone like you to be a Database Architect to play a pivotal role in our Data Loss Prevention (DLP) program for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). As a Database Architect, you will support the design, implementation, and management of the database infrastructure that underpins critical data protection and cybersecurity initiatives. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in database design, optimization, and security in complex, federal environments.

You Have:

  • 5+ years of experience as a database architect

  • Experience in database management systems, including Oracle, SQL Server, or PostgreSQL

  • Experience with data loss prevention (DLP) and cybersecurity concepts

  • Knowledge of database security best practices

  • Ability to create and maintain data models that represent the organization's data assets accurately

  • Ability to work with project teams to define data structures that support sensitivity tagging, data protection, and compliance requirements

  • Ability to design database security measures to safeguard sensitive data, including collaborate with cybersecurity experts to ensure that databases are protected against threats and vulnerabilities

  • Ability to communicate, collaborate, and work with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, to design robust and efficient database solutions that support data loss prevention and cybersecurity objectives

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or Electronics Engineering, or Engineering

Nice If You Have:

  • Knowledge of how databases comply with federal regulations, industry standards, and organizational policies related to data protection and cybersecurity

  • Ability to support to database management teams on configurations that ensure data integrity, availability, and performance while adhering to security and compliance standards

  • Ability to design robust backup and recovery strategies for databases, ensuring data availability in the event of system failures or data loss incidents

  • Ability to collaborate with application development teams to integrate databases seamlessly with applications and systems, ensuring data flows efficiently and securely between various components

  • Ability to create and maintain comprehensive documentation for database configurations, schemas, and procedures, ensuring documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and accessible to relevant stakeholders

  • Ability to collaborate with compliance teams to facilitate audits and assessments

  • Possession of analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail and accuracy

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $58,400.00 to $133,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
