Health Economist

Key Role:

Serve as a primary subject matter expert (SME) across multiple project teams to support HHS and other clients. Collaborate with teammates on the research, design, execution, and analysis of research and evaluation studies. Plan, coordinate, and support business development and capture efforts focused on a wide variety of healthcare issues.

Basic Qualifications:   

  • 10+ years of experience in economic, regulatory, or policy analysis

  • Experience as an economist, including in a corporate, consulting, or research environment

  • Experience in economic modeling specific to healthcare, including cost-benefit analysis, cost-effectiveness analysis, and budget impact modeling

  • Experience in relevant software and tools, such as SAS, Python, R, Stata, or MATLAB

  • Experience in statistical analysis, econometrics, and data manipulation

  • Knowledge of economic principles, cost-benefit analysis, and return on investment evaluation

  • Ability to convey complex economic and healthcare concepts effectively

  • Ability to work as a high-performing individual in a supportive team environment

  • Master's degree in Economics or Health Economics

Additional Qualifications:   

  • Experience with publications and contributions to healthcare economics or policy journals

  • Experience with regulatory economics in the areas of policy modeling, analysis, and applied economic statistics

  • Experience with dashboard development and utilization, including Tableau

  • Experience translating research and making it accessible to practice, policy, or government audiences

  • Knowledge of healthcare databases and sources

  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects with minimal need for supervision

  • Ability to show aptitude and interest in mentoring less-experienced staff and managing multidisciplinary teams

  • Possession of excellent analytical and quantitative skills

  • Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Doctorate degree in Economics, Public Health, Public Policy, Health Services Research, Social Sciences, or related field

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $81,800.00 to $186,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
