Public Affairs Specialist

Key Role:

Provide public affairs and strategic communications support for a high-profile Navy client. Develop and implement strategic communications plans and a variety of deliverables including articles, public affairs guidance, talking points, and press releases. Organize and support outside media engagement effort for Navy leadership. Collaborate with and support Navy strategic communications teams for a whole of government approach. Work independently on deliverables to the client and apply public affairs knowledge to drive products to completion. Direct the execution of a strategic communications plan for the Navy client and write and edit articles, press releases, and social media posts for distribution on the Navy client’s work. Maintain a digital archive of these and other products and artifacts for program office use. Develop and produce public affairs guidance and related materials, draft and update fact sheets, talking points, briefing materials, and the client’s webpage, maintain and support internal monthly staff meetings, coordinate with headquarters for interviews and responses to client-related media queries, and lead the client outside media and industry engagement efforts.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience with public affairs and technical writing
  • Experience in working with Navy clients or the DoD
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Suite, including SharePoint
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and set priorities
  • Ability to work on client site, as needed
  • Secret clearance
  • Bachelor's degree

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with speechwriting for senior leaders for public events a plus
  • Experience with management, including managing work independently and setting priorities in collaboration with the client
  • Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Microsoft Office Specialist and Expert or Society for Technical Communicators Certification a plus

Clearance:

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Secret clearance is required.

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $52,100.00 to $119,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
