IT Service Management CMDB Manager

The Opportunity:

As a Configuration Management Database (CMDB) Manager, you will oversee our CMDB, ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and consistency. You will possess a deep understanding of CMDB best practices, exhibit strong leadership skills, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to maintain the completeness and reliability of our configuration management data. You will help develop and maintain the technical design of the ServiceNow CMDB to meet the current and anticipated scope, maintain CMDB integrity, and effectively support other IT Service Management (ITSM) processes such as Event, Incident, Change, and Asset Management. Your role will be crucial in aligning our CMDB to ITSM core processes to successfully achieve organizational goals.

How You’ll Contribute:
As a CMDB Manager on our team, you’ll:

  • Ensure all Configuration Items (CIs) such as hardware, software, network, communications, and data, are actively recorded and positively managed.
  • Implement and maintain configuration management policies that conform to corporate framework requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain configuration management local processes and standards.
  • Manage the Configuration Management Plan and its implementation.
  • Work with the Finance Department, supporting budgeting, accounting, and charging activities.
  • Drive the enterprise to meet the requirements of effective configuration management.
  • Support periodic reviews of configuration management processes and standards to ensure they align with best practices.
  • Work with stakeholders in developing and implementing configuration management automation.
  • Ensure the maintenance of complete and auditable records of all CIs.
  • Work with the Incident Manager, Problem Manager, Change Manager, and Capacity Manager to enable seamless linkage of the Incident, Change, Capacity, and Configuration Management processes.
  • Identify and implement improvements to CMDB processes and tools to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Provide training and support to CMDB users to ensure proper use and understanding of CMDB processes and tools.
  • Generate and present regular reports on CMDB status, metrics, and improvement initiatives to senior management.

You Have: 

  • 5+ years of experience in IT service management
  • 4+ years of experience in ServiceNow with a focus on ITSM and ITIL
  • 3+ years of experience in a ServiceNow CMDB management role and supporting other ITSM processes, including Incident, Problem, Change, and Asset Management
  • Experience with ITIL processes and best practices, particularly in configuration management
  • Experience with ServiceNow CSDM
  • Ability to present complex information clearly and concisely
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree

Nice If You Have: 

  • Experience with project management methodologies and tools
  • Experience with Agile Software Development Life Cycle methodology
  • Knowledge of database modeling concepts, service and data catalogs, and reporting services
  • Ability to lead and manage people and the development, implementation, and maintenance of core ITSM processes
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to adapt to changing business requirements and priorities
  • Possession of excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Possession of excellent written and verbal communication skills

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $96,600.00 to $220,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees. This posting will close within 90 days from the Posting Date.
