XR Development Lead

The Opportunity:

Are you looking for an opportunity to apply your passion and expertise in Extended Reality (XR) and Spatial Computing to lead and mentor a team of XR developers, designers, edge IOT developers, and 3D artists to build cutting-edge enterprise Immersive solutions? We’re looking for a developer with the skills and leadership needed to build XR solutions from vision to production-ready system. You’ll own technical direction in Unity, including C#, integrate hardware and device SDKs, enforce engineering excellence, including architecture, quality, or CI/CD, and partner with product stakeholders to define the vision, roadmap, and measurable outcomes for multi-device Augmented Reality (AR) or Virtual Reality (VR) solutions in mission contexts.

As an agile XR engineer with the expertise needed to help solve our client’s toughest problems, you enjoy working collaboratively with others and have a commitment to customer satisfaction and process improvement. You love the challenge of developing creative new solutions for a wide range of complex problems that require ingenuity and innovation. You are adaptable to new development environments and eager to work with and learn new technologies. You'll develop, optimize, and transition immersive prototypes to robust implementations in XR across markets and industries. You'll maintain and enhance a strong knowledge profile of emerging technologies and provide input on pros and cons on combinations of such technologies for building immersive and digital twin solutions. You'll also collaborate with a varied team of software developers, artists, and designers from various technical backgrounds to solve complex problems and develop novel systems and solutions. Due to the nature of work performed within this facility, U.S. citizenship is required.

You Have:

  • 6+ years of experience with 3D software development

  • 4+ years of experience with leading small- to mid-sized Agile teams, including planning, backlog, sprint execution, code reviews, engineering standards, and mentoring

  • 4+ years of experience with C#

  • Experience with Augmented Reality (AR), Mixed Reality (MR), or Extended Reality (XR) technologies

  • Experience with software development life cycle processes or Agile development, including Scrum or rapid prototyping 

  • Experience with 3D game or simulation technologies, including Unity or Unreal Engine

  • Ability to translate product vision into a roadmap with milestones, measurable outcomes, such as OKRs or KPIs, and risk or assumption tracking

  • Bachelor's degree

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience with data analytics, AI, and ML

  • Experience with programming languages, including Java, C++, or Python preferred

  • Experience with source control, including Plastic SCM, Git, or SVN

  • Ability to write clear technical documents and decision logs

  • Ability to display strong architecture abilities, including with modular frameworks, plugin or package management, or SOLID, secure coding in enterprise or federal environments, and CI/CD, such as Git, Azure DevOps, or GitHub Actions, for automated builds and tests

  • Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills, to communicate with product support, UX, artists, hardware engineers, and client stakeholders

  • Master’s degree

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $86,800.00 to $198,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
