Cloud Platform Senior Architect, Lead

The Challenge:

Everyone is trying to “harness the power of the Cloud,” but not everyone knows how. As a Cloud architect, you have proven experience in how to build and enhance a Cloud-based technical architecture for a Platform as a Service (PaaS) and corresponding Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) capabilities that take advantage of Cloud services, open source tools and technologies, and the most modern development and architectural practices being implemented in the world of IT. As a technical lead, however, you also know how to lead the team that is designing, developing, and implementing these PaaS and IaaS capabilities. What if you could these skills to increase IT modernization across all of the federal government? We need you to provide IT platform and architecture strategic thought leadership and lead our platform team in the execution of your strategies as we develop Cloud-based solutions to address some of the General Services Administration’s toughest challenges.

As a lead Cloud architect on our team, you’ll design and architect secure Cloud products and services to enable development teams deliver features in the most efficient way possible. You’ll guide your team as they research the current environment and recommend tools and capabilities from various on premise, Cloud-based, and hybrid resources. You’ll share expertise with your team through leadership and mentoring as they help the GSA overcome their most difficult challenges or execute upon the most exciting opportunities offered by leveraging the Cloud. Your technical expertise will be vital as you work across multiple IT organizations to ensure standards are met throughout the Cloud migration process. This is an opportunity to use the latest Cloud technologies as you look for ways to improve your customer’s environment using current Cloud capabilities. You will leverage your experience with modern microservices based architectures and DevOps practices to build distributed solutions on private, public, and hybrid Clouds. You’ll be able to sharpen your skills in Cloud computing, automation, SecDevOps, and containerization, while developing critical systems for GSA. As a technical leader, you’ll identify new opportunities to build Cloud based solutions to help your customers meet their evolving needs. You will evaluate project status and resource utilization and implement changes to improve the team's effectiveness. You will also coordinate with other project managers to integrate projects with other architecture design initiatives. You will serve as a first-level manager over a team of platform engineers and maintain responsibility for people management, project deployment, career development, and performance management.

You Have:

-6+ years of experience with developing and architecting solutions for complex application life cycles and dependencies in a Cloud environment, including focusing on application delivery leveraging DevSecOps

-3+ years of experience with architecting infrastructure systems and deploying solutions in Amazon Web Services (AWS)

-3+ years of experience in working with microservices and containerization, including orchestration, cluster management, container storage, associated operating systems, and security, such as Docker, OpenShift, Docker Swarm, Kubernetes, Twistlock, and RedHat

-Experience with leading technical teams on complex IT projects using Agile frameworks, including SAFe and tools, including Atlassian, and being as “hands-on” as needed to troubleshoot and support technical execution

-Experience with DevSecOps and automation tools, including security monitoring, the CI/CD pipeline, infrastructure as code, and Chef, Puppet, or Jenkins

-Experience with automated testing, test-driven development, and open source and COTS test automation frameworks, including Selenium and JMeter

-Experience with identifying and implementing practices to improve application and infrastructure performance

-Experience with obtaining and renewing an ATO in a Cloud environment

-Ability to obtain a security clearance

-BA or BS degree

Nice If You Have:

-Experience with Identity and Access Management solutions

-Experience with developing overarching Cloud strategies that address needs at a program or organization perspective

-Knowledge of data storage, including using a file system, relational database, or NoSQL variant, such as Redis and Elasticsearch

-AWS Certified Solutions Architect Certification at the associate level or above

-Agile IC Professional Certification or equvialent

-RedHat Certified Systems Administrator
