Communications Specialist, Mid

Key Role:

Work independently or with minimal guidance to create, design and write complex publication materials, communications, newsletters, bulletins, and informational materials, for internal or external audiences. Design press releases, media alerts, Website content, talking points, speeches, briefings, newsletters, emails, feature articles and social media content and schedules. Leverage communications expertise and develop communications products, including analyzing organizational change communications. Interview subject matter experts and develop an original approach, messaging and branding. Provide guidance, direction, and work assignments to junior staff.

Basic Qualifications:

-Experience working in following field or subject matter: Journalism, Communications, Change Management and English

-Ability to write for a variety of formats and provide writing samples

-Ability to work independently to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple assignments from conception to completion on deadline

-Ability to translate complex or technical information and ideas into consistent communication products with clear and easy to comprehensible language

-Secret clearance required

-BA or BS degree

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience Social media preferred

-Experience working in a DoD or Army environment preferred

-Experience with Change management a plus

-Knowledge of AP style a plus

-Ability to be comfortable and effective while interacting with senior executives

-Ability to be a self-starter

-Possession of excellent interpersonal and communications skills

-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills

-MA or MS degree
