Database Administrator, Senior

Key Role:

Serve as an integral part of the database administration and engineering component of a systems engineering team supporting the design, implementation, and management of databases and data delivery systems. Maintain responsibility for the maintenance of mission databases and the supporting architecture. Perform system checks, backups, and recoveries and ensure optimal performance. Analyze existing DBMS systems and schemas across multiple platforms, including UNIX, Windows, physical platforms, virtual platforms, and Cloud mission services. Develop and maintain logical and physical data models. Work with a team to ensure data systems perform as expected by centrally unifying the control of operational procedures and automating the execution of infrastructure activities.

Basic Qualifications:

-5+ years of experience with system administration and database systems

-Experience with DBA tasks on servers, including installations, monitoring, and backup and recovery operations 

-Experience with troubleshooting and resolving database integrity, performance, replication, log shipping, connectivity, and security issues

-Experience with relational database technologies, including MS SQL Server, Enterprise DB, or PostgreSQL

-Knowledge of concepts associated with structured data and relational databases

-Ability to communicate across multiple tasks and functional groups

-TS/SCI clearance
-HS diploma or GED

-DoDI 8570.01 Level II Information Assurance Compliance Certification

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with automation in UNIX, Windows, and networking technology platforms and configuration management platforms, including Ansible, Chef, and Puppet

-Experience with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) concepts, DevOps, and Agile development

-Experience with DevOps and ITIL-based operations methodologies

-Experience with facilitating IT systems to meet Cybersecurity Assessment and Authorization (A&A) compliance standards for DoD Risk Management and Vulnerability compliance

-Ability to train junior administrators in the O&M of database systems

-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills

-BS degree in CS, Computer Information Systems, Information Systems, or a related field

-Database Computing Environment Certification
