Electrical-Optical Research Engineer/Scientist

Key Role:
Provide scientific, engineering, and technical assistance (SETA) to a government program manager (PM). Provide technical support and apply expertise in electro-optical science and technology, including increasing the energy efficiency of signal conversion and transmission. Assimilate and integrate technical input from performers and analyze performers' technical deliverables and reports. Develop technical documents, briefing materials, and other program documents using Microsoft Office applications and conduct independent review and summary of technical literature and emerging technologies. Analyze and document testing methodologies and protocols, including ensuring they align with program technology components. Coordinate, align, and schedule technology development tasks across multiple performers. Monitor and analyze performer technical progress in comparison to planned cost and schedule and perform technical and programmatic risk analysis or review and tracking.
 

Basic Qualifications:
-2+ years of experience in a laboratory
-Experience with current technical research approaches to advanced electro-optic modulator development
-Experience with modeling electro-optic communication systems
-Experience with room temperature interconnects and packaging of devices for electro-optic communication systems and integrated optical systems
-Knowledge of the effects that very low temperatures have on the governing physics of electro-optic devices
-Knowledge of advanced communication modulation schemes, including WDM and homodyne optical detection
-Ability to obtain a security clearance
-PhD degree in Physics or EE
 

Additional Qualifications:
-Experience with general cryogenic engineering and cryogenic packaging preferred
-Experience with cryogenic packaging of fiber optic devices, components, and systems preferred
-Ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks proactively
-Ability to work constructively in a team environment
-TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph preferred
