Offshore Energy Environmental and Regulatory Analyst

Key Role:

Serve as an environmental or safety specialist who can analyze policy and science on offshore renewable energy, including wind and offshore oil and gas on the federal Outer Continental Shelf (OCS). Provide technical support, regulatory development support, research, and analysis on energy development, environmental and safety programs, including the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). Leverage expertise in relevant topics, including process safety regulations, international regulations, permitting, equipment review, and training. This position includes the option for telework.

Basic Qualifications:

-1+ years of experience with supporting the federal government, as an employee or consultant.

-Knowledge of the Department of the Interior, including environmental and safety policies for the federal OCS as an employee or consultant with the regulated community or the government

-Experience in working with environmental programs for a federal agency or working with environmental policy programs that are broadly applicable to many federal agencies, including NEPA or stormwater permitting

-Knowledge of the Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act (OCSLA), Energy Policy Act of 2005, offshore oil and gas technology, offshore wind technology, the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement, and the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management

-Ability to travel nationally, on occasion

-Ability to obtain a security clearance

-BA or BS degree

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience in working with economic issues, including government revenues, leasing, and oil and gas resource estimates

-Experience in working with offshore wind or oil and gas technologies for industry, either onshore or offshore
