Procurement Category Specialist

Key Role:

Play a key role in executing category sourcing initiatives and leading strategic sourcing initiatives for assigned spend categories across one or more areas, including corporate affairs, finance, human resources and facilities or office services. Collaborate with stakeholder teams to drive engagement and provide guidance, including applying expertise in functional work to analyze and execute category and sourcing strategies. Conduct due diligence for complex procurement initiatives and lead tasks, including spend analysis, market research, competitive solicitations, supplier evaluations, cost or benefit analyses, and negotiation of contract terms and conditions, including warranty, indemnification, and liability provisions to mitigate risks. Manage and facilitate supplier or client relationships, vendor performance, and contract management activities. Provide business counsel, resolve supply chain issues, and develop client relationships. Apply expertise to identify business process improvement opportunities and help to implement new tools and procedures.

Basic Qualifications:
-7+ years of experience with category management supporting initiatives in designated areas

-Experience with applying strategic sourcing processes, negotiating terms and conditions of high impact supply or service contracts, and managing vendor or client relationships

-Experience with technical applications, including Microsoft Office, such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

-Experience with market research and applicable informational resources

-BA or BS degree

-Ability to work in a collaborative, high-demand, client-driven environment
-Ability to exhibit proven results and leadership qualities and interface with internal groups and teams at multiple organizational levels
-Possession of excellent analytical skills, including applying principles of technical and economic evaluation and using these evaluations as a basis for negotiation strategies and sourcing recommendations
-Possession of excellent negotiation, consultative, and interpersonal skills
-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills
-BA or BS degree in Business preferred; MBA degree a plus
