Release/Configuration Manager

The Charleston Digital Hub of Booz Allen Hamilton is seeking qualified candidates for a Release / Configuration Manager position in the Charleston, SC area.

Booz Allen Hamilton is looking for a release manager who will be responsible for implementing and maintaining the configuration of high availability server environments, which includes clustering technologies, system monitoring and 24x7 support. The successful candidate will ensure that the server infrastructure effectively supports ongoing operations and strategic direction. The release manager will also serve as a mentor for team members and a high-level technical resource for planning and maintaining infrastructure for all applications.

This individual will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Act as the escalation point of interaction for hardware/software infrastructure needs between management and the businesses serviced. Provide oversight and direction for the business unit's needs including the development and ongoing management of a capital plan. Follow through to ensure that systems are properly configured and installed per the agreed upon timeframes.
  • Provide leadership to ensure effective support for systems and. Includes critical, high availability business systems and online information systems running on various Virtual Technologies.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with supported business units and their development teams.
  • Communicate and escalate operational, technical, and resource issues with management team on a regular basis.
  • Administer and give first level approval for technology expenditures.
  • Monitor and react to changing environmental factors (i.e. new customers, new technologies, changing customer needs, changing resource allocations).
  • Manage server build/rebuild requests, event log monitoring and review, performance analysis hardware performance monitoring and domain management.
  • Coordinate preventative maintenance tasks such as server patching, and applying updates & upgrades on a regular scheduled basis.
  • Support after hours implementation of server technology solutions to satisfy business and infrastructure needs.
  • Participate on projects, troubleshoot problems, follow and define detailed procedures and standards, and document new design proposals & existing infrastructure.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and thrive in a collaborative team environment.
  • Comply with and ensure team compliance with established change management procedures.
  • Ensure team members are adequately cross-trained to eliminate or minimize single points of support for applications.
  • Maintain project plans with regard to major activities such as releases and major infrastructure changes.
  • Provide troubleshooting and resolution of highly complex technical issues related to software build breaks, installation, configuration, database and general environment issues.
  • Communicate technical issues or project details to Team Manager and Technical and Development teams.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic team environment, across various functional departments.
  • Oversee and authorize release migration across enterprise environments
  • Communicate release changes between development, information assurance and operations teams
  • Provide release documentation including deployment plan, rollback plan and release notes

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to obtain a security clearance.
  • Ability to support after hours.
  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Experience in progressive technology including production infrastructure operations and management with proficiency with operating systems, databases, networks, middleware, etc.
  • Active Directory and LDAP experience.
  • Technical familiarity with UNIX and Windows server operating systems.
  • Experience with managing high availability servers and infrastructure in a virtual environment.

Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:

  • Troubleshooting skills at an enterprise level.
  • Logical Workflow processes.
  • System Integration expertise.
  • Advanced time management and project management skills.
  • Proven skills in developing and leading high performing technical teams that demonstrate excellence in a dynamic fast-paced environment with a high degree of flexibility and accountability.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills including both oral and written proficiency.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience in building, deploying and maintaining Windows servers.
  • Experience in creating, managing and maintaining Windows Active Directory environment.
  • Experience in implementing and maintaining Oracle WebLogic Systems.
  • Experience in implementing and maintaining Oracle Database Systems.
  • Experience in implementing and maintaining FileNet P8 Systems
  • Experience in maintaining and deploying virtual server environments, specifically vmware ESX environments.
