Systems Engineer, Senior

Key Role:

Design, develop, and evaluate the operation of active and passive acoustic systems, hull-mounted, fixed, submerged, and towed systems, off-board sensors, unmanned marine vessels and platforms, including power supply and propulsion systems, launch and recovery systems, and analysis, reconstruction, and modeling and simulation. Conduct analytical, environmental, operational, or performance studies to develop designs for underwater missions, including autonomous marine maneuvering and obstacle avoidance, on-boarding sensors and equipment, and towing and weight handling structures. Conduct conceptual designs, including designing analyses, performance predictions, and conducting and hosting design reviews. Design and oversee the testing, temporary and ship installation, systems operation and verification test, and repair of integrated systems and equipment. Develop level III technical data packages after the prototype is validated. Coordinate and lead the work of junior engineers on assigned projects in the area of specialization. Assist with planning and supervisory role, including providing program analysis, assessments, and recommendations to mid–grade and senior clients, integrated product teams (IPTs), and working groups.

Basic Qualifications:

-10 years of experience as an engineer or senior technician at a Naval warfare center or headquarters of a Navy systems command

-Knowledge of undersea warfare and Naval submarine systems and capabilities

-Ability to analyze, research, assess, and organize technical data into cohesive and clear technical reports and presentations

-Ability to lead high performing work teams and design, develop, and deliver a material system or product related to unmanned underwater vehicles

-Top Secret clearance

-BA or BS degree

Additional Qualifications: ​
-BS degree preferred in Engineering or Physics

-Experience as a qualified submarine officer or enlisted for submarine warfare

-Knowledge of naval operational missions and submarine tactics, techniques, and procedures

-TS/SCI clearance is preferred
