Technical Writer

Key Role:

Perform a variety of writing and editing duties. Develop, research, photograph, and finalize material necessary for the preparation of programmatic documentation pertaining to the theory, installation, operation, and maintenance of a variety of complex electronics equipment or systems. Use the latest software applications, develop user-focused technical publications and manuals. Prepare, review and update programmatic acquisition documentation, training manuals and user guides for all audiences, including operators and maintenance technicians. Edit, update and finalize newly developed documentation to include the incorporation of red-line edits and comments. Support the quality assurance, quality control, and version management of all programmatic documentation on a client-based archive. Leverage existing expertise and develop new capabilities due to the rapidly evolving army market.

Basic Qualifications:
-5+ years of experience with government technical writing
-5+ years of experience with training material verification and editing

-Knowledge of Army training and technical writing standards

-Knowledge of US Army logistics and acquisition

-Ability to travel 40% of the time

-Secret clearance
-BA or BS degree or 12+ years of experience with technical writing for DoD

Additional Qualifications:

-Knowledge of MIL-STD-40051, MIL-HDBK-1222, and eXtensible Markup Language 

-Ability to travel for extended periods of time

-Ability to maintain accurate technical publications

-Ability to manage multiple technical publications programs for complex weapon systems

-Ability to show expertise in Adobe Acrobat, Frame Maker, and Microsoft Office
-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills

Clearance:
