2019 Summer Games Intern – Midwest

Key Role:

Support research tasks, including data collection, manipulation, and presentation, literature search, and interviewing. Compile reference and statistical data into standard formats. Accomplish assignments with supervision and guidance based on general directions. Apply knowledge of standard research techniques, statistical analysis, and compilation of data. Select, analyze, and present data and information in written, oral, or graphical forms. Exhibit knowledge of commonly used PC applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases. Apply knowledge of software engineering, programming techniques, and the latest technologies to build Web pages, reports, and project specific utilities.

Basic Qualifications:

-Experience with developing or integrating software in modern programming and scripting languages, including Java, Python, C, or JavaScript

-Ability to obtain a security clearance

-Scheduled to obtain a BA or BS degree in Spring 2020 or 2021

-Coursework or majoring in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or Mathematics

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with data visualization tools, including Tableau and Qlick

-Experience with SQL or SQL analytic functions within RDBMS platforms, including Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and others

-Experience with Web development using a variety of JavaScript libraries, including libraries supporting data visualization

-Experience with a variety of file formats, including CSV, Fixed Width, XML, and JSON

-Experience with exposing and consuming REST and SOAP-based Web services

-Experience with operating in a commercial Cloud environment, including AWS

-Knowledge of OS command line utilities and scripting to perform backups, restart servers, restart services, and automate these tasks to ensure availability of those services to the project team

-Knowledge of Web Services, APIs, and other connection protocols to integrate the various components and tools that form the project team’s analytics and visualization platform

-Ability to enhance, extend, and integrate desktop applications using developer APIs, macros, and other scripting mechanisms to automate or streamline tasks performed within those application

-Ability to use Operating System (OS) expertise to configure the OS environment in support of project team requirements and install software packages, as required

-Possession of excellent critical thinking and analytical skills

-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills
