Network/Systems Engineer, Senior

Key Role:

Serve as the lead network and systems engineer providing continuing system design, administration, optimization, troubleshooting, and maintenance on a variety of network devices and appliances on a highly complex network. Maintain accountability for Linux, Windows, and application systems that support infrastructure and Big Data applications. Maintain responsibility for the Information Assurance Vulnerability Management (IAVM) for the operational infrastructure, including regression testing and implementation. Support and maintain the operating system configuration and associated file systems, log files, processes, problem determination, problem resolution, software, administration tools, utilities, security, and hardware. Build, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair UNIX server hardware and software and install new and rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, and storage in accordance with standards and project and operational requirements.

Basic Qualifications:

-5+ years of experience as a network engineer or administrator, including requirements management, design, development, and testing and system administration in UNIX and Linux environments

-3+ years of experience with VMware Infrastructure and Windows

-3+ years of experience with writing Linux shell scripts to automate tasks

-Experience with using command-line statements to discover, catalog, and manipulate files in large file systems and managing user accounts, reviewing system log files, and performing security updates on Linux systems

-Experience with deploying, configuring, and managing enterprise operating systems and virtualization solutions, including Windows 2008, Windows 2012, Red Hat Linux, and VMware ESXi

-Knowledge of firewalls, routers, and switches, including Layer 2 and Layer 3, IDS/IPS, and VPN

-Knowledge of management network configuration, VLANs, and subnetting

-Knowledge of FISMA, DoD, and DoN information security doctrine

-Active Top Secret clearance

-DoD 8140 IAM or IAT Certification, including Security+ CE, CISM, CISSP, or CASP

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience as a system administrator and system engineer for Windows–, Linux–, and UNIX–based operating systems

-Knowledge of Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012, Windows 7, Windows 10, RedHat Linux (RHEL) 5, 6, and 7, Macintosh OSX, and HP–UX operating systems

-Ability to navigate the management interface of networking technologies, including firewalls, routers, and switches

-Ability to troubleshoot technical problems on a variety of technologies

-BA or BS degree
