Air Domain Subject Matter Expert

Key Role:

Support and assist with efforts to translate Combatant Commander area of responsibility (AOR) weapon system capabilities and gaps to support the Joint Force Air Component Commander’s mission. Provide technical and analytical assistance to assess weapon system capabilities and translate system requirements into resource evaluation and documentation products. Provide support to effectively plan, program, budget, and execute resource requirements. Assist with performing capabilities, program, and cost analyses for new and modified systems, including managing, developing, and analyzing resource documentation for the Multi–Domain Command and Control (MDC2) core functions of Command and Control (C2), Air Superiority (AS), and Global Precision Attack (GPA) in support of program execution. Build and defend decision data via the USAF Strategic Planning Process and influence the POM process directly once those planning decisions are made. Plan, coordinate, and execute advanced large force employment exercises. Produce capstone analyses and reports to inform the requirements generation, strategic planning, programming, and science and technology process, identify and prioritize capability gaps, and develop strategies toward defensible solutions for the MDC2 mission.


Basic Qualifications:

-7 years of experience in a combat fighter aircraft, including F–15E, F–16, F–15C and 11F or 12F

-4 years of experience as a flight instructor in MDS and 120 days AOC FDO or as a planner

-Experience with Air–to–Air, Air–to–Ground, Electronic Combat, and Joint Operations

-Knowledge of AOC planning processes

-Knowledge of Air Superiority and Global Precision Attack tactics, techniques, and procedures

-Knowledge of Cyber and Space Domain capabilities

-Ability to determine a JFACC Air Mission to achieve the Combatant Commander's objectives

-Ability to match kinetic effect to preferred outcome and process fleeting or dynamic targets swiftly and accurately

-Secret clearance

-BA or BS degree


Additional Qualifications:

-10 years of experience with CAF Fighter aircraft

-6 years of experience as a Four Ship Flight Lead

-6 years of experience as a ​ flight instructor

-2 years of experience with ​AOC FDO or as a planner

-Experience with recent combat within the last 5 years

-TS/SCI clearance

-MA or MS degree in Mathematics, Engineering, CS, or Business

-PMP or CTEP Certification

-Weapon School Graduate
