A&M Data Scientist, Junior

Key Role:

Work as an impactful and motivated data scientist developing technical solutions to complex problems. Analyze data to identify trends and support the development of mission-related analyses, using techniques such as econometrics regression analysis, cluster analysis, Bayesian analysis, discriminant analysis, sentiment analysis, support vector machines, survival analysis, and other modes of machine learning. Contribute to the development of new concepts and experiments, translate these ideas into executable action plans, and communicate these plans to a diverse client base. Create mathematical models and programs used to test solutions to complex systems. Work within cross-functional teams to engage the client, comprehend the client's problems, develop strategic analytical products, support requirements analysis, including process and systems analyses, support the development of business and system architectures, and define actionable system requirements. This position is located in Washington, DC.

Basic Qualifications:

-Experience with experimental design, statistical methods, and principles of sampling and statistical inference

-Experience with using statistical analysis software, including R, Python, SAS, Simio, Minitab, MATLAB, Stata, or SPSS

-Experience with data discovery and visualization

-Ability to create digital databases

-Ability to work full time in the Washington, DC area

-Ability to obtain a security clearance required

-Scheduled to obtain a BA or BS degree by Spring 2018

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with machine learning, discrete event simulation, or graph analysis

-Experience with simulation software packages, including ExtendSim, AnyLogic, and Arena

-Ability to astutely operate in uncertain environments with authority and influence

-Ability to emphasize methodology, modeling, and governance while remaining technologically and politically neutral

-Ability to be articulate, persuasive, and enthusiastic with a knack for good storytelling

-Ability to effectively explain advanced concepts to team members, users, and clients

-Ability to work independently and address ad-hoc challenges

-Scheduled to obtain a BS degree in Engineering, Sciences, or a related STEM field by Spring 2018
