Associate General Counsel

Key Role:

Provide counsel on compliance with international trade laws, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Drive compliance initiatives and continuous improvement efforts across the enterprise. Oversee International Trade Compliance (ITC) program infrastructure, including maintenance of ITC policies and procedures. Design and implement annual ITC training and communications strategy. Work with ITC Director, ensure periodic internal and external audits and self-assessments. Serve as an empowered official for licensing and voluntary disclosures.

Basic Qualifications:

-5+ years of experience with counseling clients on international trade compliance related regulations

-Experience with counseling, export licensing, and transactional work

-Experience with drafting, negotiation, and client relations

-Knowledge of the U.S export control regulations, including ITAR, EAR, and OFAC regulations

-Ability to serve as a business partner to develop practical solutions to challenging problems


-Member in good standing of a state bar association

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience in a large law firm, corporate law department, or public sector working with the professional services or defense contracting industry, preferred
-Experience with managing other international trade compliance attorneys and professionals, preferred
-Ability to show excellent judgment and initiative in designing and implementing the most effective solutions
-Ability to work with other compliance and investigative professionals
-Ability to work under pressure and prioritize and manage workload, simultaneous tasks, and meet deadlines with a changing fast-paced environment

-Ability to show a business-oriented approach to problem-solving

-Possession of excellent legal and analytical skills
-Possession of excellent interpersonal and team-building skills with all levels of staff, including senior leadership in a geographically-dispersed environment
-Ability to obtain a security clearance, preferred
