Aviation Environmental Specialist

Key Role:

Provide onsite client support and project management support to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), including national environmental and energy program support for National Environmental Protection Act (NEPA) policy and programmatic requirements regarding aviation and FAA operations. Provide programmatic support for the FAA's Environmental Management System (EMS) and support projects and meetings. Develop documentation to support international aviation meetings and foreign travel requests. Manage preparations and provide day-of support for client forums. Serve as technical expert on aviation environmental policy initiatives. Perform environmental audits and analyses to assist clients with strategic and tactical solutions. Provide decision support and project management for environmental policy and program implementation projects, including project analysis and prioritization, project implementation, and measurement and verification, manage client relationships, deliver high-quality work products, and provide work leadership to junior staff, as needed.

Basic Qualifications:
-Experience with NEPA, aviation noise, air quality, project management, and onsite client support

-Knowledge of air traffic control, including departures and arrivals, flight plans, altitudes, and PDARS

-Ability to work in a team environment 

-Ability to meet deadlines under stringent time constraints

-Ability to balance workloads efficiently and multi-task and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously

-Ability to obtain a security clearance

-BS degree in Environmental Science, Aeronautical Science, or Aviation Management, or  or related field and 2+ years of experience with aviation environmental policy, research, or analyses

Additional Qualifications:

-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills, including listening, interpreting what others are saying accurately, and expressing thoughts clearly
-Possession of excellent organizational and problem solving skills, including strict attention to detail, using creativity, reasoning, and expertise to identify and solve problems efficiently and managing multiple tasks concurrently, including assisting with the management of multiple deliverables, meetings, and information requests-Public Trust clearance
