Biosafety/BioRisk Specialist

Key Role:
Work as a biosafety and bio-risk specialist to support work for a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) client. Work in a facility designated a Tier 1 laboratory which operates at a Biosafety Level (BSL) III status. Adhere to stringent biosafety and biosurety parameters to maintain the integrity and accountability of its select agents, the health and safety of its workers, and the protection of the surrounding environment. Support the mission of the client, the DHS, and the US Department of Agriculture (USDA). Serve as the scientific and technical expert in biological sciences. Assist with technical program management, program development, and briefing materials for government R&D and compliance efforts. Offer solutions and new ideas, identify opportunities to grow existing business or support firm-wide initiatives, interact with clients regularly, and present work products to clients, as needed. This position is located in Orient Point, NY.

Basic Qualifications:
-5 years of experience in a professional work environment
-Experience with technical biosafety and bio-risk assessment, compliance, and management
-Experience with the client’s biological mission, biosafety and risk management, and select agent program rules and practices, including the US Code of Federal Regulations for the possession, use, and transfer of select agents and toxins or the Biosafety in Microbiological and Biomedical Laboratories
-Knowledge of best practices for working in a BSL III laboratory and other procedures and guidelines
-Ability to obtain a security clearance
-BA or BS degree
-USDA Select Agent Registration

Additional Qualifications:
-Ability to become familiar with other areas outside of biosafety and bio-risk areas
-DHS Suitability clearance
